FASHION
IN INDIA
·
The
history of clothing in India dates back to the ancient times . However,
the Fashion industry in India and its designers started cropping up in the
early 1980’s. These designers include
Satya Paul, Abh Jhani- Sandeep Kosla etc. This resulted in a major economic boom in India in the year 1990. Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai are important
fashion centers in India and are followed by Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai.
Even though the Indian fashion industry is inspired by the western culture, it
sure does have a large line of its own traditional clothing ideas. The
traditional clothes of India include
Saree, Salwar kameez, Half- saree, Lehenga choli and churidaar for women and
Dhoti, Lungi, Kurtas for men. The Indian fashion industry does not limit itself
to just clothes. It has got a variety of accessories that include a large
variety of beautiful jewellery, bags(jhols), slippers (jhootis) and bindis.
These accessories are styled according to the occasion and they can be dressed
up or even dressed down. It is during the big fat occasions that we see the
people take at most care to look their very best. The women are dressed with
,layers of makeup, heavy Indian attires and accessories that complement their
beautiful look. Though men don’t take too much time and effort on their
clothing, they look handsome and elegant in their traditional attires as well.
Presently, the most popular Indian designers include Sabyasachi
Mukherjee, Rohit Bal, Manish Malhotra, Ritu Kumar etc. Even though the Indian
attires are heavy and takes a lot of time and efforts to wear them, it makes
the people look their best version. The Indian fashion industry never fails to
exite its audience. The designers have also attempted to merge a few of the
traditional Indian prints with the modern outfits and vice versa. This has
gained them a larger set of audience that include even the modern young girls.
