THE HAIR ACCESSORY: fancy edit

Hey there, welcome back! Today’s post is about the rise of the head band and other trendy hair accessories that you can use to easily elevate your look. I am a big lover of the show ‘Schitt’s Creek’ and no one can deny that the fashion in the show is at it’s best. Alexis Rose, one of my favorite characters, is known for her iconic headbands and since watching the show, I have been inspired to try out hair accessories more than ever. Get ready to feel fancy!

Adding a hair accessory to your look is the surest way to look in tune with high fashion. This is something I have only recently realized, but hair accessories have always been incorporated on high fashion runways, red carpets and in weddings because they add a certain regal and elegant quality to one’s appearance.

Having done some research I can assure you that getting your hands on dainty, beautiful hair accessories is easier than it has ever been. First, most easily accessible and most impactful, is the headband. Headbands have been around forever and as a child I wore them all the time. Today, they are considered one of the most popular trends. Although there are loads of head band styles to try, I’d recommend the dainty, gold/silver thin silhouette, most often studded with crystal celestial bodies. Another extremely pretty, extremely French option is the pearl headband. These two styles have the power to completely transform  a look from mediocre to impressive.

The second way I love to accessorize hair is using barrettes to tuck away some strands. These are definitely on trend but, if you pick the right type, they have a very classic feel to them. These can be fun to style if you play around with them by layering or stacking. I tend to prefer them at the end of a tiny braid or a hair twist. Again, choosing gold tones and pearls (pearls are all the rage right now, just get some because they look good on everyone!) is the best way to go.

The last of my favorite hair styling pieces is the humble hair clip. I’ve only recently shown any interest in the hair clip and that’s because I’ve finally found ones that are minimalistic instead of loud and flashy (if that’s your style, this post might not be to your liking but you do you, my friend!). These are what I gravitate to most now, as they are the perfect way to pull your hair back so it looks clean and natural and a little fancier than a regular chunky clip.

To achieve a classy look with a hair accessory, go with something delicate that adds character to your look. Don’t shy away from more elaborate head pieces or from styling something mundane like barrettes in different ways. There is a whole treasury of hair accessories to play around with and I hope you feel inspired to search for some after reading this post!

Always remember that a good hair accessory can carry a look a level beyond stylish-to fashionable.

Till next time, have fun dressing up!💜
