HANDCRAFTED INDIAN BRANDS
Hey there, welcome back! My goal with today’s post is to introduce you to some smaller, handcrafted, sustainable Indian brands. Be warned, they are expensive, most having a price range starting from the high 2000s. If you’re looking to invest in quality, sustainable clothing, here are three of my favourite brands to check out!
Recently, the importance of actively trying to invest in sustainable and ethical fashion has become more and more apparent. Having said that, there is a certain amount of privilege attached to being able to afford sustainable clothing (because that stuff is expensive!). If you have that privilege, I highly recommend introducing sustainable pieces into your current wardrobe, one item at a time. And to help you achieve that, here are three beautiful clothing brands I love, that are made in India!
One
THE
YELLOW BOW
The Yellow
Bow is based in Jaipur and offers beautiful cotton pieces ranging from Rs. 2,500
to Rs.12,000. Their pastel colour palette and delicate prints are especially
attractive to me. I stumbled across this brand on Instagram and I am glad I did
because it offers some gorgeous sustainable items that are versatile and
dreamy.
SAJKE
Another
zero-waste number, Sajke prices start at Rs.1,200 and range up to Rs.6,000,
making it the most affordable out of the three on this list. It offers
clean cut, every day pieces, mostly showcasing kalamkari prints. Sajke is a
great place to start investing in sustainable clothing that is sure to be well
used and heavily complimented.
Three
RENGE
On
the fancier side, Renge is a home grown brand showcasing luxurious, ethical
wardrobe staples. The brand is all about creating pieces that are feminine but
bold. Pieces are limited per collection and are actually made to order to
reduce their carbon footprint. Personally, it is my favourite of the three,
despite the higher prices, as it sells quirky pieces that are truly
one-of-a-kind.
I
hope this post inspired you to look into sustainable fashion and support local
brands. Fashion forms communities and each of these brands is run by
communities of people trying to do better for the Earth. So, go on, browse their
sites and I’m sure your carts will be full in no time!
